Intresting article/blog post.

Hopefully, he will come here and get me some more of the details of the situation... so I can forward it on.

Wil's a pretty accessible guy. If you attempt to contact him, he'll get back to you.

If you go to dictionary.com, the meaning of the word "embiggen" is:

No results found for embiggen.

Interesting. So who came up with this imaginary word?

In this case, it means to click on a smaller picture to reveal a larger version. It's a Simspon's reference.

Guess he didn't have this problem on the Enterprise or at Star Fleet academy. I guess DRM was gone along with poverty and other evils by the 25th century.

I don't know what he means by not being able to watch 1080i... He's still got component cable outputs.

Sir, you're selling Mr Wheaton short. This isn't quite the right spot for it, but he's a good bit more than just an actor.

If I remember correctly on HDMI compatible is DRM not component. In fact I am positive.

Earl, send him an email, he'll most likely respond to you.

By the way, for those who don't know he was Wesley on Star Trek the Next Generation when he was a kid. He also appeared on CSI a season or two ago.

Sounds like the same problem I had for the 0x2020 CE. All I had to do was disconnect HDMI, connect via component, RBR, and then reconnect HDMI.

Mr. Wheaton states:

"Here's the thing: I understand that DirecTV won't be able to resolve this issue for several weeks, and the best advice DirecTV can give me is to unplug my HDMI cable (and whisking any 1080i content I may want to watch) in favor of component cables, until they can come up with a software fix to this problem."

By his statement he's saying that if he swaps out HDMI for his component outputs he believes he won't be able to watch 1080i anymore. This is not true.

If Mr. Wheaton is reading this (and I am flattered if he is):

This is most likely an error. If you haven't yet, please reboot your receiver. It will probably go away. If it doesn't, you should have only the slightest quality difference using good component cables, and you should still get the same HD content.

...and Mr. Wheaton, DIRECTV receivers comply fully with the HDMI spec and therefore have to include the ability to implement DRM, but currently HDMI content protection is not used by DIRECTV to the best of my knowledge.

...and I see Earl's message in the comments on Wil's blog. So, hopefully, he will get him taken care of.

Behold... the power of the internet.

Not really...

Anyway:
